To the Department of Art History,
The Northwestern Art Review is pleased to announce a call for submissions for its second annual issue to be published in the spring of 2009. NAR is an academic organization founded by students of Northwestern University that seeks to promote art historical discourses at the undergraduate level. By publishing an annual journal of art scholarship and critique, the Northwestern Art Review strives to provide a forum for greater exchange among an expanding community of students who devote their time to studying, thinking and writing about art.
The 2009 edition of the Northwestern Art Review will publish in late spring. The editorial board asks all students interested in submitting to e-mail their essays to the Editor-in-Chief (e-reichert@northwestern.edu) by February 20th. The invitation to submit is open to all undergraduate students attending college or university, regardless of their major, discipline or concentration. Papers must address some aspect of the visual arts, whether that is its history or its analysis and critique. Students who have written critical essays for collegiate-level art history or art theory and practice courses are strongly encouraged to submit these papers for review. Essays must be between 500-2000 words. Essays that have already been submitted for prior issues of the journal may not be resubmitted for this year’s journal. A monetary prize will be awarded to one exemplary paper selected by the editorial board from among the published essays. Any questions concerning submissions can be e-mailed to the Editor-in-Chief at e-reichert@northwestern.edu.
Sincerely,
Elliot Reichert
